Boss BR1180-CD Review The Boss BR1180CD ia an all in one effects and digital recording studio with 10 recording tracks and 20GB hard drive. I've used the BR1180CD for the last few years and it's well worth the investment. There are 100 adjustable pre-set guitar sounds and muiltiple effects which can be set for guitar, vocals, keyboard and bass, along with the built in drum machine and metronome. This is a very easy studio to use yet it doesn't limit it's range or versatility. All the great standard effects are part of the package: chorus, flanger, delay, phaser, accoustic simulator as well as a whole host of amp presets for electric and accoustic guitar and bass. All the amp presets tcan be tailored to your own taste which can then be saved fo other songs. The onboard mastering tools contain multi-band compression, 4-band EQ, an enhancer, limiter, bass cut filter and more. Onbce you've mastered your tracks, you can easily burn them to the onboard CD writer. You can even export tracks for easy loading into a Mac or PC. Tracks from your favourite CDs can also be imported and edited so you could include samples of songs within your own tracks! The really great thing about this studio is it's ease of use.If you make a mistake there is an "Undo / Redo" button. Whole tracks, whole songs or parts of both can be deleted or copied utilising the technology in this recording studio. There are 80 tracks in all, including virtual tracks, which enable various takes on solos or vocals to be saved, with the preferred track later used when mastering the song. Markers can be placed into tracks so you can practice a certain solo or tricky finger picking piece before recording. The amp simulators feature Roland COSM amp and speaker technology so the studio can run through stereo speakers abnd sounds great. Recording can be done via an optional footswitch, so there's no need to take your hands off the guitar. An external drum machine can be incorporated by importing Standard MIDI File (SMF) rhythm patterns directly into the rhythm track. Rating The Boss BR1180-CD will provide hours of guitar playing pleasure. It can help you to become a better player by using the metronome to improve your timings and Phrase Trainer for slowing down imported guitar licks played by your favourite artists. Overall, this is an increadible piece of kit that provides you with the technology to produce great songs easily.
